6th Annual Charity Champagne Reception

You’ve been waiting all year and we have, too!

Please join us on Friday, December 1st at The Dupont Circle Hotel for our

Sixth Annual Champagne Charity Reception!

The Irish Network-DC has selected both Special Olympics International (based right here in Washington, D.C.) and Special Olympics Ireland as joint recipients of our recognition and donation at the Sixth Annual Champagne Charity Reception.

The CEO of Special Olympics International, Mary Davis – who previously served as CEO of Special Olympics Ireland – will be joining us on December 1st to accept the recognition and to briefly update us on the exciting year ahead for both organizations, which will include the 50th Anniversary of the founding of Special Olympics. Special Olympics was founded by Eunice Shriver, sister of Pres. John F. Kennedy, in 1968, and her son Timothy Shriver, PhD, currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors.

Special Olympics transforms lives through the joy of sport, every day, everywhere, and is a global movement of people creating a new world of inclusion and community, where every single person is accepted and welcomed regardless of ability or disability. They work to make the world a better, healthier and more joyful place – one athlete, one volunteer, one family member at a time – and they support five million athletes in 172 countries, with over a million volunteers.

The all-island Special Olympics Ireland operates in all 32 counties, supporting over 8,000 athletes participating in 14 sports in 352 affiliated groups throughout all four provinces, supported island-wide by over 25,000 volunteers.
